COPY. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Weybridge. 30.10.33. 4.B.IV. We ran the car steady for 100 miles before opening full out. There was no sign of any seizure of the pistons. We started our mileage on the track at 2 o'clock and have completed 224 miles. Petrol consumption 11.2 m.p.g. Oil consumption 149.3 m.p.g. Average oil temp. 101oC. Average air temp. 10.35oC. You will observe that the oil consumption is excessive. It is passing the piston rings and may improve. The engine is not so smooth with these pistons as with the Aerolite. The compression is not so good. Petrol used Shell Ethyl. Saturdays consumption was 12.5 m.p.g. and not 16. We had made a mistake in the miles run. We have been informed that the track will be closed in the morning until noon if dry, for Cobb to try out his car. We are therefore running mileage on the road.
