With further reference to previous correspondence, you will recollect you recently advised us that on any Chassis prior to 7.SC. on which the above work had to be done, it would be necessary to also supply and fit a new cross steering tube and two new cross steering levers, at an additional expense of £6-13-6d. There is just one point that has occurred to us in connection with this matter and that is, whether, in quoting a Customer for fitting Balloon Tyres to an existing Car it is necessary to find out whether his Chassis is already fitted with either the .940 or the 720 steering worm. In other words, if the Car has the original higher geared worm, is a change essential in such instances? If so, it is, of course, going to put up the cost for fitting Balloon Tyres to a very high figure. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} P.S. Since dictating the above, we have remembered that it has been agreed under Free of Charge Key Cards, that .940 worms should be fitted whenever any Car comes into W. or Depots and without our saying anything about it to Customers, so that presumably, in such instances, we should not seek to charge for doing it, but if a customer was going to fit Balloon Tyres himself and we knew that his Chassis had the original worm, presumably we ought to make a point of getting hold of the Car so as to be able to fit the .940 worm.
