My Dear Carington,

We have come to the conclusion here that Mica insulated plugs do not give us the service we ought to expect on all our modern cars.

Even when we go to a relatively expensive Mica plug of washer type construction we still have to report trouble.

We feel a Ceramic plug is generally better in several respects, chiefly in reduced cost and immunity from the "flaking" trouble we always get with Mica. We are also of the opinion that a good unglazed Ceramic is less liable to give trouble when used with leaded fuel.

We are therefore carrying out a large number of tests with Ceramic plugs made by several concerns and we should like to include in our tests Ceramic plugs made by your Company.

In view of our excellent and long standing association with you in the past on chassis plugs I do not want you to feel that we are not offering you every facility to compete with other people on Ceramic plugs for our cars.

Perhaps you would like to come up to Derby in the near future and discuss the whole question with us. If so please let me know convenient dates so that we can fix up a meeting.

Yours sincerely,
