RE RAPSON JACKS COPY. "Hurtwood", Holmbury St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Mary., Cranleigh, Surrey. June 14th. 1919. Capt. Hallem. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sir, Very many thanks for your letter and good wishes. By the following post I received instruction from Mr. Cowen to send Jacks to Derby, and am doing so almost immediately. Unfortunately our demonstration car will not be back for a fortnight, so I am sending two of my original models, which are rather roughly finished compared with the latest type, but jacks are identical, only axle fittings being slightly different to decrease weight. As a Rolls-Royce owner myself, and having interviewed and read letters from some hundred other Rolls owners, my chief desire is to impress on Mr. Royce and your Experimental Dept. the outstanding feature of fitting four jacks integral as a part of the chassis is "safety". I particularly ask you, when the jacks I send are fitted to one of your cars, to raise these, then shake the car as violently as you desire. All other advantages will be obvious, but Rolls-Royce beyond any other Firm, must not risk the great danger of their cars toppling off the present-day jacks, now that we have an alternative, which has been hailed throughout the country Contd.
