To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}2/MH.{M. Huckerby}9.3.39.

B.80 NO.2 UNIT.

The centre main bearing (R.R. Whitemetal) has failed and we are returning the unit to be dismantled for inspection. Whilst dismantled will you please fit Ph.III double valve springs on the inlet valves, similar to No.1 unit.

This leaves us without an engine on the bed and we should be pleased to receive No.1 unit on test as soon as possible in accordance with our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}1/MH.{M. Huckerby}6.3.39, to prepare for fitting into 11.B.V. chassis.
