Shock Damper Valve Assembly F.85641.
---------------------------------

On the 15th inst. Production complained that the damping disc was coming loose on its taper.

We have tested 2 valve assemblies built by production, and find that 200 lbs. load is necessary in order to move the disc .001".

The maximum spring load on the valve is 30 lbs. Even with allowing extra load due to the oil having to escape from behind the damping disc, there appears to be a reasonable factor of safety.

It can only be presumed that the damping disc has not been allowed sufficient draw before rivetting.
