1293 December 2nd.1937 Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les.6/AP. Armstrong's Patents Co.Ltd., Eastgate, Beverley, YORKS For the attention of Mr.Bogg Dear Sir, Thank you for your letter of the 29th. enclosing a sketch of the bellows control arrangement. The maximum pressure that we use in our control system is 35 lbs/sq.in. but provided the bellows will stand a greater pressure there is no difficulty in increasing our pressures. From a rough glange at your scheme 646.Z. there appears to be the following faults:- (1) There is no need for a gland on the bellows operation rod, in fact the bellows will not work unless the inside is vented to the damper reservoir. Any gland would cause too much friction. (2) It will be necessary to balance out the upward load from the diameter of the valve spring plunger. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
