167, OSBORNE ROAD, ROMFORD, ESSEX. 1247. 21st April '38. Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sirs, I have been given to understand that your company have for some time past been experimenting on running a car with a mixture of PETROL and WATER, but have had little or no success owing to the fact that the water fouls the sparking plug points. Theoretically one has always been given to understand that no sparking plug will fire in the presence of water, due to the fact that there is nothing known that will bring about a direct electrical circuit from one point to the other of a plug if the points are immersed in water. I have also been given to understand that when it does become possible to run a car on a mixture of petrol and Water that it will put an end to all formations of carbon deposit in the cylinders and on the plug points, and will therefore make a car more economical to run and with less trouble. A friend of mine has invented a sparking Plug adaptor which when fitted to any sparking plug makes it possible for a plug to fire in WATER and OIL, it will also increase the speed of the car, will lower the petrol consumption, make starting easier, will eradicate 9/10ths of all plug trouble and will make the car give a better performance all round. It will also put an end to all plug failure due to condensation and oily plugs. This invention is called the 'NER-MIS' plug adaptor, it has been passed, tested and approved by the patents office, has been tested and proved by a commissioned engineer officer of the Royal Air Force at one of the R.A.F. Stations and at present is a matter of interest with Air Commodore verney Directorate of Technical Developement at the Air Ministry who has asked for a set of these adaptors to be forwarded him for test purposes on Aircraft, Marine craft and Mechanical Transport.
