X.2448 To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} X.2748. - RE ALUMINIUM PISTONS FOR THE CAR. X.682. R3/W189B6. Regarding aluminium pistons for the car I understood that 7-CA was fitted with our original type, and not the Zephyr type, and are the same as those that are doing so well in 49-GB. Whatever they were in 7-CA, they were not at the time I had it satisfactory. I shall be glad if you will press forward the tests of the very latest designs, giving the largest possible surface and having a large number of rings. Standardisation sheets are to be held over until design and material passed by Messrs. Hived, Platford, and R.{Sir Henry Royce} R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
