re. BENSPORT RADIATOR AND BONNET.

We send herewith M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} sch. 7430. shewing the configuration of the Bensport (Bentley 'B' model) radiator and bonnet. This agrees with the model seen and tentatively approved by SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}, and a print has been supplied to Park Wards who are making a model, full size, to fit to the body and dummy chassis now in hand.

We suggest that Derby have here enough information to set out the bonnet.

We think we should attempt to use the more orthodox method of attaching the hinges by merely folding the panel, rather than the internal riveting, as on R.R. cars. The latter would prove awkward on the side hinge where it rests at the radiator, and also where it passes over the scuttle.

The bought-out bonnet catches used on 19-EX. should be fitted.

On the experimental cars the bonnet should be made long as drawn, and cut to suit, but when we come to production a standard length of bonnet for the standard saloon and open car can be determined. On the open car the bonnet extends to the screen, and on the closed car almost so, but it cannot do so quite, or the front seat would become too narrow, or conversely, the bonnet would be too wide at the back end for the open body.
