EC2/T8.1.26.

RE BATTERY IGNITION. MODIFICATIONS TO LCC.2121.

Answering your E1/1423.12.25. the modifications which are covered by the standardisation sheet as having run 10,000 miles on chassis 8-MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} in France, with satisfactory results, are :-
(1) 2 gauze covered windows in moulding.
(2) A ventilation hole in floor of distributor, opposite contact points.
(3) A sliding sleeve on the drive shaft running in an oil well.

Item 4 in your note, i.e. An oil trap in the governor casing and running plain fit where shaft passes out at bottom, is included together with (1) and (2), but another distributor unit on another car, viz. 7-EX which is at present with Mr. Royce.

Should there be any reason for item (4) ultimately turning out still better than item (3), this can, of course, be standardised at a later date, either alternatively to, or in conjunction with (3), but owing to a number of failures of platinum points, it was considered desirable to standardise something as soon as was possible.
