CURRENT CONTROL ON INSTRUMENT BOARD.

We have examined the request made in BY.2/Q.5.5.39., to fit a Master Switch to control current distribution, and propose that the simplest method of adding this feature to the switches shown on D.CD.834, would be to arrange for three separate units as follows :-

I. Combined Master and Ignition Switch.
Operated by lock key and having three positions,
OFF, ON, IGNITION.
Designed to lock in OFF position only.

2. Lighting Switch.
With three positions, OFF, S. & T., H.S. & T.

3. Starter Push Button Switch.

With the Master Switch OFF, all circuits will be inoperative, except the following :-

Electric Clock.
Interior Body Lights.
Side and Tail Lights.

This will provide parking lights with the Master Switch locked, and also eliminate the additional P.L. position.

We consider that the S. & T. circuit being protected by a fuse, could safely by-pass the Master Switch in order to have one position only for driving or parking.

If S. & T. are to be controlled, then the Parking Light position will have to be retained. Before proceeding with the design will you say if the above proposal meets your requirements.
