D/L To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From G.W.H. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, FRANCE. 28/9/31. I have seen the following report on my return,- apparently there will be no claim as the cyclist admitted that he was in the wrong and the only damage that he sustained was a slightly buckled front wheel. Copy of Report from Pattinson. ACCIDENT REPORT. 18/9/31. While driving 19.G.IV, accompanied by Brazier and Royce along the road at Deols in the direction of Chateauroux at about 25 MPH., I was about to pass the last coach of a train which was travelling in the opposite direction, and in the centre of the road, when a cyclist, who was coming down the hill suddenly came from behind and across on to his wrong side, apparently intending to stop on that side of the road. After hearing the horn and discovering his mistake he went first one way and then the other. I applied my brakes and swerved in an attempt to avoid him, the car was almost at a standstill when his front wheel collided with the O.S. front wheel hub of 19.G.IV. No damage at all occurred to the car and the cyclist was unhurt, but his front wheel was out of shape. He said he was alright and that it was his own fault. No witnesses names were taken and no address of either the car or cyclist were taken, - As the cyclist, as previously stated, admitted that it was his own fault.
