From Exp. Dept. Copies for: J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} R.{Sir Henry Royce} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Na.{Mr Nadin} Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/EH3/L26315. March 26th. 1915. Report on Lodge Sparking Plugs type C.2 X.601 The insulation material for the Lodge Plug which was adopted as standard some time ago can only be obtained from Germany, so since the War the Lodge people have made another plug with mica insulation. Our tests of these plugs prove that they will stand a higher compression without pre-igniting and that they are very good in other respects. They will not resist over-oiling as much as the previous Lodge Plug but they are better than the old Bosch. I recommend we adopt these plugs as standard. We have run them for 50 hours on the test engine and 200 and 300 miles on the road. It is practically the same plug as we are using on the Renault and 200 HP with every success. | ||
