To EH. from BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to EFC. BY12/P8/4/19. "EAGLE" ENGINES. X.3351 RE FRICTION ANCHORED EPICYCLIC GEAR. I am sending you herewith a sample of material which has been specially prepared by Messrs. Herbert Frood, for our attention. We are having 12 rings of this supplied in the near future which we will send down to your Department for testing out. In view of the fact that we had asked for this special material before we finally decided to go on to bronze plates, I think that as Messrs. Herbert Frood have taken a lot of trouble in this question, we should certainly have same put into an engine and have same run on the hangar test, to see whether the material promises any better than the ferodo previously supplied.
