To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/FS.{F. Steele} Re: Rear Brake Drums on 3-B-IV. It has been the practice for many years now in the Experimental Department and the Works to rivet the bolt ends over, which holds the Hub to the Drum, and as there is approx. .125 left for riveting over, we are of opinion that this has a tendency to loosen the taper bolts. Therefore we are riveting over the bolts as above on the 'Near Side Drum'. On the 'Off Side' we are fitting full size nuts and putting four centre pops in the end of the bolts, to prevent the nut from unscrewing. Will you please have these two schemes watched very carefully during the above Car's tests. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/FS.{F. Steele} [Signature] | ||
