CHASSIS RADIATORS.

re. Lack of water space in Matrix supplied by Marstons.

Mr. Bowers and myself proceeded to Marstons on Wednesday the 26th. instant, in connection with the above complaint, meeting Mr. Dunn Works Manager, and Mr. Smith Assistant Works Manager,

Both were very perturbed about the returns and to know that we were so dissatisfied with their product, and are ready to do all they can to satisfy us.

The situation at present is as under :-

(1) 132 25/30 Matrix have been returned by us due to deformation of matrix causing partial or complete stoppage of water ways at either top or bottom of matrix.

(2) To decide if the water space was satisfactory to the gauge size proposed by Steadman viz: .039 x .625", I had a matrix cut across the bottom about 4" up and it was satisfactory to gauge.

(3) Agreed subject to confirmation by Steadman that gauge size stated is correct, and section brought back acceptable. Marstons will correct all matrix returned by us.

(4) I pointed out the necessity of careful manipulation and called for guarantee as to freedom from damage due to this correction.

(5) Started them rigging up a matrix as returned by us to take flow test, then correct water ways, re-test and submit figures for acceptance by Steadman, if satisfactory each matrix to be similarly tested and to conform to limits to be fixed by mutual agreement before despatch to Derby.

(6) They have some doubt as to ability to work strictly to dimensional limit as laid down by Steadman but are going into the job thoroughly and will pass on their suggestions.

This note applies to all types of matrix.
