To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} x346 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}8/KW.18.9.36. Bentley Car with Experimental Citroen Torsion Bar Suspension. We should like to proceed right away with the building of a complete car for testing on the road. We do not intend to build a new car by getting one from production, but to use existing experimental pieces wherever possible. Will you please therefore build this car to the following specification :- (1) The frame which has been used for the mock-up and which was originally on 5-B-IV. (2) Radiator as now fitted on the mock-up. (3) Vauxhall steering, which Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} will obtain. (4) Gearbox as on 4-B-IV. This requires a new change speed mechanism. (5) Engine unit B-11. (6) The rear axle which Martindale is bringing back from Shardlow. (7) One of the petrol tanks that are in the fitting shop. (8) New rear brake equalisers are required from production. (9) 5 1/2" deflection rear springs, to be supplied by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} (10) Dashboard off B-35-AE. (11) The clutch pit at present used for lining up this car should suit B-11 unit, but new pedals will be required. (12) Running boards as just fitted to 5-B-IV. (13) Side members to be botched according to instructions which Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} will issue, to suit the position of the various components such as the steering, etc. (14) Exhaust system, supplied by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}, to miss the nearside torsion bar. (15) Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} is allotting a steel body for fitting to this chassis.
