R R.{Sir Henry Royce} 235 B (200 T) (S F.{Mr Friese} 674 22-5-19) G 2376. To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} X.3732 Copy to Ck.{Mr Clark} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}1/W22.11.19. RE SPLIT PISTONS. Confirming my conversation with you on the telephone, I attach herewith copy of CJ3/E8.11.19 and of telegram received from Mr. Royce on the 31st. Oct. These give us authority for proceeding with the split pistons until we have something better. My reading of these instructions is that every new casting which can be obtained and probably some of those which have been partly machined, should be converted to the split type and used as indicated in CJ's note, and that no more plain pistons will go out other than those already made, and which when erected conform to the 2 LW standard.
