contd :- -2- for Derby to posses an exactly similar rig as far as subframe brackets are concerned - other parts not necessary. All subframes would be despatched to the coachbuilders until Works are satisfied that it coincides with and fits the coachbuilders rig. The subframe brackets on all chassis also should be fitted by means of a template which governs their position relative to the dashboard and relative to the top of the chassis. Subframe brackets not to be fitted until the chassis is complete. This chassis template of course to be made to coincide with the coachbuilders rig. The first cost of this scheme would appear to be prohibitive but we are of the opinion from our own experience, which incidentally has been costly, that it is necessary - it will pay for itself very soon insomuch that it will delete all body modifications and alterations found necessary after mounting, and which we should not expect the coachbuilders to pay for having instructed him to work to our drawings. It will also do away with any need for expert personal supervision. Again, it will not give the coachbuilder any more indication that we are manufacturing a new chassis than by giving him a host of drgs. and dimensions which would cause him to think and compare with present practice.
