48940 Hotel de France, Chateauroux. Indre. France. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}I/Crn.22.4.25. To: "HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}" From: G.W.Hancock. ------------------- Chassis 93 NK. Mileage up to date - 5,547. We have fitted two new conrods to nos. 1 & 2 cylinders, to replace no. 1 - bearing cracked - and no. 2 - bearing which had run out. All pistons have been fitted with "L" type rings. New steering column fitted, to replace broken one. New rear exhaust box fitted. Fabric coupling fitted - brought over by Butler. We have cleaned and reset magneto and battery contact points. All valves ground, cleaned and refitted. Stop on front axle jumped up on near side to give clearance for side steering tube. All brakes examined. Squeak in rear brakes internally made O.K. Rear brakes taken up one notch. Front brakes taken up two notches. Cast iron choke valve in down take exhaust pipe - spindle straightened. This appears to be the weak spot on this job. Should suggest that the whole unit be made more robust. We have examined the induction pipe, and it appears to be quite O.K. One link taken out of fan belt. New piston complete with leather fitted to oil relay. Slack in front brake connecting links taken up. On our first trial trip with the car, it is not very promising. Nos. 2 & 5 cylinders are over oiling very badly. The brakes are fair. Steering is very much heavier than it was. Engine power is good. We are starting on our full routine runs to-morrow. G.W.HANCOCK. | ||
