Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}6/MH.{M. Huckerby} S.H. Grylls, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Limited, D E R B Y . 28th March, 1939. My dear Grylls, With reference to your letter of the 15th inst., I am sorry I have not replied earlier although the bearings will now have reached you, having been despatched from these Works on the 20th inst. I note that the life of the bearings is not important, which is very fortunate as with such a large end float, using a standard track radius, the balls are riding right on the corner of the track, and if you have trouble due to this the only other alternative is to grind a specially wide track for your particular purpose, and I shall be interested to learn as to what results you obtain. With reference to trying out my motor car, I must apologize for the unfortunate circumstances which rather messed-up my arrangements during my recent visit to Derby, and will certainly make sure that on my next visit you have an exclusive opportunity. Kindest regards, Yours sincerely, F.O. Hickling | ||
