To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}: X508 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}2/KW.9.9.35. 20-G-IV. 3 1/4" bore fitted with Stromberg downdraught carburetter. Mileage 769. Petrol used - 47 gallons. Consumption - 16.35 m.p.g. Oil used - about 2 1/2 gallons. Carburetion. Starting difficult on cold morning. Starter turns engine very slowly. Carburation is then weak until water reaches about 70°C. No position of control richens up correct amount at all speeds. If control is moved sufficiently towards rich to accelerate, it is then too rich after about 2,000 r.p.m. and misfires. When engine is hot, carburation O.K. under any conditions of cornering or braking. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
