W.A.Robotham, Esq., Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Robotham, Many thanks for your letter of July 16th. I am so glad to hear that you find Shell suitable for your cars and we are delighted, of course, that you are recommending that your Trials cars should use it. I am not quite clear as to how Shell stands in relation to the Bentley but presume that you would have no objection to owners using it if they wished to do so, provided, of course, that they made intelligent use of their hand-ignition controls. With regard to gum, I do not think that you need have the slightest fear that this will ever give any trouble with "reformed" Shell or any other of our products and I can assure you that although the maximum limit permissible in gum content is 10 mgs. per 100 mls. we never sell anything which has more than a trace or at the outside 1 mg. per 100 mls. gum, which is, of course, a negligible figure. Yours sincerely, L.G. Cunningham | ||
