Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. BY RECEIVED 13 MAY 1938 Dear Sirs, Re: Flexible Clutch Centres. Having now ample evidence that my Flexible Clutch Centres damp out wide torque variations between engine and gear-box on Diesel jobs, I would like an opportunity of working out a design to suit your standard chassis. If you are interested in the matter, I shall be pleased to come over and see your engineers or if you prefer it, I can work out a preliminary scheme to fit your existing clutch pit unit. Crankshaft damper. As a new product I have recently evolved a very simple means for much reducing crankshaft "whip", while at the same time reducing the torsional vibration passed to the chassis and transmission line. My proposals to meet both of these problems I can put before you and if you would send me a cross section of your crankcase and shaft rear end and of your clutch unit, I will arrange accordingly. Yours faithfully, Colin Macbeth | ||
