Car Radio 76153. 9.7.35. CADILLAC WIRELESS SET. 6 VOLTS SUPPLY. PARTICULARS. Set is 6 valve super-Letrodyne, consisting of 1 radio-frequency valve, 1 intermediate-frequency valve, 2 detector valves, and 2 power valves. The loud-speaker is a separate unit (energised type), the power unit consists of a small rotary-converter giving an H.T. output of 200 volts and is also a separate unit. Another separate small unit appears to be a junction box between the set, power unit, and speaker and also embodies a separate switch for the rotary converter in the form of a cut-out, the energising coil being switched on when the panel control switch is operated. The method of inserting the tuning controls to the set is an improvement on other sets we have investigated, the cable is fastened by means of a grub screw, but the outside sheath is fixed by means of a nut tightening on to a taper screw with slots cut in, the control passing through the centre of screw, embodying the chuck principle. When the set is first switched on, the current taken swings up to 10 amps (5 volts supply) and then settles down and receives at 5.9 amps (5.3 volts supply). DIMENSIONS. Space required for set 7½" x 7" x 6" Space required for loud speaker 8" dia. x 4" deep. Space required for power unit 6½" x 5½" x 3" Space required for junction box 6¾" x 3¼" x 2¾" WEIGHT.
