[struck through] ORIGINAL EFC1/ADL6.5.30. X8780 PERFORMANCE OF DYNAMO - BATTERY SYSTEM AND REDUCED CHARGE SWITCHING SCHEME. YOUR R1/M6.5.30. The reduced charge switching scheme inter-connected with the head lamp switch was put forward for your consideration in a memo of ours of July 1928. Later, in further referring to this suggestion in our EFC3/T3.10.28 we remarked that, in combination with the higher output dynamo, the suggestion would be more applicable. A possible objection to the arrangement was also referred to viz. that if a quick charge of the battery is required in some circumstances, full output of the machine is not normally available. By the removal of lamp fuses from the distribution box it is possible, in case of necessity, to realise full dynamo output. It is this very possibility that has prevented us from giving a setting of the dynamo (see paragraph on p.4 referring to control brush position) which would otherwise enable it to give a still larger output than is in the circumstances considered safe from overheating, but which is in any case larger than it could be in the absence of reduced charge switching. | ||
