The testing of a simplified silent ram piston design.

Referring to the drawing already sent to you shewing the above, No. LeC.1176, the complete arrangement of spring and stop as shewn for the ram was not considered desirable, and we therefore asked you to test this particular piston with a ram of the simplest type having three rings, as used on piston LeC. 1166. The ram should be fed with oil in the usual manner, by intermittent oilways on the small or big ends of the connecting rod. As this design produces the best form of scraper ring with which we are acquanted, it is thought to be rather hopeful, and should therefore be pushed forward with all possible speed.
