BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to EG. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M15.6.31. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 4. GEARBOX. JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary} 310 filed. We send herewith E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} schemes 3283/88. shewing respectively the gearbox with synchro-mesh actuation for top and third, and the actuating mechanism. In order to get power for the operation of the synchro-mesh we suggest that the travel of the gear lever should be increased to 4" each side of neutral on a 15" lever, and have arranged the leverages to correspond. This box can be fitted to an existing 20/25. by modification to the position of the cross members and some modification to the brake gear.
