Wraith Gearbox.

Herewith is N Sch.4247 which shows a sliding piece for the 2nd. speed synchromesh with three cam pins which we should like regarded as an alternative to the one already instructed, so that both types may be available for trial experimentally.

The number of plungers is reduced to six but the total spring load is unaltered.

The maximum spring stress is 104,200 lbs./sq. inch. (corrected) which is, we understand, a perfectly safe stress with the best steel available, particularly on a spring which flexes only occasionally.

The cam angle should be 47.5º with this scheme to give less locking than with the 50º instructed for the two cam scheme on N Sch. 4161.
