X.3530. RE MAGNETO DRIVE.

Providing you are satisfied that the exhaust pipe will not damage by heat, the fabric universal joints, this is the best practice to adopt. Care in manufacture will result in the shaft running truly, which is necessary for appearance.

To facilitate manufacture I strongly recommend that the transmission shaft between the engine arm and magneto be made of tubing with drop forged ends pinned and brazed or forced on a taper thereto. Some slight modification to the bolts was suggested, which might also make the job rather more reliable and give extra clearance between the bolts and exhaust pipe.
