To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} ✓ C. to RG.{Mr Rowledge} ✓ E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ✓ ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG4.5.28. X3866 Y2103 X3996 POSITION OF SCRAPER RINGS. We have carried out several tests and by using 'forceps' to compress the perfect circle ring, it is quite an easy job to drop the cylinders in position. The objection to the ring at the bottom as regards assembly is now overcome. The only other objection we fear to the bottom scraper ring, is that on one engine where these were fitted and the oil thrown out of the crankcase was the minimum, we had 4 or 5 pistons score. Several other engines have run satisfactorily with a similar scheme. Tests are proceeding with both types. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} attc. RHCl/BE4.5.28. | ||
