R6/D30910 The Austin car that came here from Mr. Walters is really not a very good specimen of a car, - the engine over-oiling and sending out volumes of blue smoke; the pistons blowing past and being gummed up through the heat caused by the passage past the rings; the clutch being so troublesome as to whether it is running or stopped that it is impossible to synchronise the gears and change gears reasonably well. In consequence of this, the change gear box teeth were very damaged, and in addition, the gears were very slack and had badly formed teeth, which evidently had been ground on a similar machine to one we tried and abandoned.
