A lengthy discussion took place yesterday on this subject between Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and myself. It was pointed out to W. officials that we now had the Andre Tele-control shock dampers on our London Continental Demonstration Car, and for the time being therefore this disposes of the difficulties we were up against on suspension with critical customers in respect of the Continental model, and we are now able to satisfy their wishes. The discussion then turned on the necessity of some similar damping control on the long type chassis with low rating springs. It was believed that it might even be advisable to leave the Continental with Andre Tele-controls and to fit the R-R scheme, such as we were able to try yesterday, to the long chassis with normal springs or low rating springs. We believe we should have no difficulty in persuading customers that whereas the R-R scheme was designed for the luxury suspension the Andre scheme gave a greater range of control for the fast driver.
