1012 c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} BY.8/G.13.1.39. LUGGAGE CAPACITY. Having seen what we have done in order to fit the spare wheel in the back of the Speed Bentley (Paulin), Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} wanted to make the scheme standard. I pointed out that we had tried this, but found it was not possible, as the space was too irregular, the width of the frame preventing us from taking full advantage for the width of the present boot. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} then remarked that it would be useful if it was provided for, and covered over to allow the chauffeur to carry material that he required to keep the car in order. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} remarked, rubber boots for washing the car, and things of that description. He remarked that for himself he would like a place where he could put snow overshoes, and odd sundries, such as snow-chains. Would you kindly look into this, and see what it would mean, as the new tank will apparently be more costly, but it might be desirable to make some kind of extra space along the lines called for.
