X. 8770 X. 8940a (1) IGNITION. Magneto with spring instead of friction to prevent sleeve vibrations affecting the controls: fume trap, and extra ventilation to battery ignition. (2) EXHAUST. Exhaust silencer with Derby modification, but arranged to be built as sketch (drawing for this from WW.) (3) CON. RODS. Con. rods should be with mild steel bushes. (4) LUBRICATION. Overhead oiling reduced to 6 ft. head, and drilling to ends of inlet valve rockers deleted. (5) CLUTCH. Clutch and flywheel lightened, and altered to whole surface spring for smooth engagement, and to stop more quickly. (6) CARBURETTOR. Small dia. induction pipe in aluminium, waterheated induction pipe, aluminium carburettor, throats slightly raised to prevent petrol dribbling back, throttle spindle location to improved scheme, and improved filter in float chamber. (7) IGNITION. Distributor with improved ventilation, and trap to exclude breather gas. (8) Slipper flywheels dowelled together. (9) Oil gallery pipes cover. (10) Valve spindle packings improved.
