TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to BJ ORIGINAL. re. PURCHASE OF A CAR. It has occurred to me that it may be preferable to have one of the Sizaire cars rather than a Lorraine-Dietrietch, because of the novel control of the front axle. Regarding our own practice I have suggested that we increase the lean of the front pivots immediately if at all possible, as we can I feel, ^near certain [handwritten] prevent low or high speed wobbles from building up. &. hydraulic dampers on axle & steering [handwritten] As regards our future policy it is quite possible that we may use the suggestion I made some time ago, of using the shock absorber as an upper radius rod. We are taking out a patent for this combination, as improved by us, comprising the shackling at the rear and the swivelling of the link. I believe Mr Rowbotham also suggested the swivelling of the vertical link & his name will be included in the patent. [handwritten] R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
