Waller - Head of Chateauroux} 200a Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.1/MH.{M. Huckerby}22.4.38. 6.B.IV - THERMOSTAT SCHEME. Will you please note for record purposes that the thermostat scheme which ran 10,000 miles in France on this car (to SCD.141 and SCD.149) was removed from the engine in the Experimental Garage and the scheme as instructed for M series production Bentley cars was fitted. Before dismantling the thermostat fitted to the car in France was checked and found to give correct running temperature, not having altered throughout its mileage. The thermostat unit itself has had its charge released for measurement of its punctured free length and has been returned to the makers for examination. The M series production scheme has been fitted in order to carry out certain tests on the production type of unit, the previous scheme having been run to obtain experience with the B.III and B.50 thermostat unit.
