Les 1293 TELEPHONE: BEVERLEY 321 GRAMS: ARMSTRONG'S SUSPENSION. The GORDON ARMSTRONG PATENT SUSPENSION COMPANY LIMITED OUR REF: GA.WC.1. YOUR REF: WALTHAM WORKS, OPPOSITE ST MARY'S CHURCH, BEVERLEY E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} YORKS. GORDON ARMSTRONG A.M.I.A.E., F.{Mr Friese} Inst. PAT. N. O.{Mr Oldham} TILL. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. 10th May, 1937. For Mr. Leslie's attention Dear Mr. Leslie, I have a copy of your letter to the Armstrong's Patents Co. dated May 7th, reference RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.5/AP. I am asking them to proceed with the shock absorbers directly they get castings from you. The other parts will be made awaiting the arrival of these castings, so that there shall be no delay. I certainly agree with you that the hand-control dampers are better, but there is not the same lightness of control that you have been used to. The single-spring valve will, I think, solve the difficulty as, at the moment, we have more or less got it where we want it; the chief trouble being that it was very noisey on one side, but I think we can overcome that. We have had a shock absorber put up with it in, and apart from the noise it was quite good, and as I say I think we have found a means of overcoming the noise. What did you find wrong with it? Yours sincerely, p.p. THE GORDON ARMSTRONG PATENT SUSPENSION CO.LTD. Gordon Armstrong | ||
