RE: TYPE OF ENGINE. As the result of the consideration given to the above subject, and the need for the Bentley 50 engine to be free from any new problems, we will use the Wraith engine, in the main, for this chassis. The above decision means that we shall devote our design energies to the production of the offset head with overhead inlet and side valve exhaust type of engine, as this appears to have possibilities of greater power at low speeds where such power can be appreciated and usefully employed. The above policy means a project sheet being produced to cover the cost of the production of the alternative engine outlined in paragraph 2. I have arranged with Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} that Mr. Jenner and two members of the Engine Department will confine their energies to producing the E.CD. drawings for the new engine in question, and that no effort will be relaxed to have the engine on test as early as possible.
