Files 1265 c He/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} HXB/T10.8.36 PHANTOM III OIL PUMP DRIVE During last week we had two failures of the above on chassis on test. The failures occurred when starting up the engine from cold. The chassis had been standing outside overnight and the temperature was rather low. We believe the high resistance of the cold oil was sufficient to cause the drives to fail. We understand that a modified form of drive is being produced. We feel it advisable to put on record these two failures so that the changing of drives on cars that are already in service can be considered. [Signature HXB] | ||
