4H6. Hl. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM{Anthony F. Martindale}5/R.11.5.38. BENTLEY III FRONT COIL SPRINGS. With reference to your H1/EJW.2/GS.9.5.38, we note you say that the surface cracks at 45° to the axis of the spring were not oxidised. We have sent into the Laboratory another spring which has failed. We do not want a complete report on this, but we should be interested to know if either of the two failures in this spring had started from a crack which had corroded.
