With reference to memo' EPC/H.2/3/23, also memo' BY3/P6/3/23 regarding improvements on the Wiring and Battery.-

(1) BATTERY TERMINALS.- X444
With reference to the Battery Terminals F.51822/3, we have altered our drawings to show the Tab for locking Bolt Head removed, so that the Bolt Head will have to be held in a Spanner, which will relieve the battery stump of a large proportion of the strain when tightening up the Bolt.

We are also instructing a Special Stud with a Lock Nut at each end to be used in place of the standard Bolt and Nut.

Meanwhile, the Works are fitting the standard Bolt and Nut with the Locking Tab on the Terminals removed as stated above. When the Locking Tab has been removed off Terminals which have been lead coated, the exposed metal should be tinned to prevent corrosion. Will the Works particularly note that the outside diameter of the centre portion of the Terminals should not exceed .950, as shown on drawings F.51822/3.

(2) With reference to the question of heavy motor leads to the Battery sagging and fouling the Propeller Shaft. We have altered our drg. of the Conduit on the 3rd Cross Member making same 1.200 longer. This will then carry the Cables past the centre line of Propeller Shaft, so that they cannot sag and foul the latter. As regards chassis which are fitted with the present length of Conduit, these chassis should have the three leads to the Battery bound with string, as suggested in EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}'s memo' above. Will CHAT. kindly hand over to the Works sufficient string to bind the Cables on all chassis at present in the Works fitted with the old type Conduit.

(3) RE TERMINALS ON MAGNETO CONTACT BREAKER COVER.-
The terminals as instructed are O.K. if the following points are watched when fitting:-
The Terminal F.9778 on the Cable to the Instrument Board, should be fitted first, in the slot in the Magneto Breaker Cover. The permanent "Ea rth" wire should then be fitted in a second slot which will have to be cut by the Works in the Contact Breaker Cover. On the sample Terminal we have in the D.O.
