RE: STEP BRACKETS - WRAITH 111.

604.

It will be recalled that we promised Mr. Finney of the Park Ward & Co. that if he would send us a drawing of the proposed running boards for the standardised Wraith bodies, which he is to produce, we would investigate the possibility of placing the step brackets along the frameside member, such that the running board might be mounted without packing.

We have received the necessary drawing of the running board from Mr. Finney. We regret, however, to say that all the tools for the step bracket have been made, and sample pressing and bendings have been submitted.

We understand also that 100 sets are expected for delivery, and a further 200 sets are on order.

It looks, therefore, almost impossible to alter the step brackets on the first 100 cars, but it might not be too late to cancel the order for the following 200 sets. If the price of the body to us would be so reduced by our modifying the shape of the step brackets in accordance with Park Wards requirements that on a reasonable number of cars we should recoup the cost of the new dies and drilling jigs, we could introduce the change at the end of the first 100. Unless we receive a price saving from Messrs. Park Ward we suggest that the modified step brackets be not introduced until the change can be made mechanically.
