To Hm.{Capt. W. X235 [Handwritten] X4118 [Handwritten] MR. PILLING. We have now returned to you Mr.Pilling's car. This car has been invaluable to us for investigation work. As we received the car we found that there were a number of noises coming from the coachwork and the chassis, other then the rattle from the shock absorbers. These included - spring squeaks and brake rope rattles. We have dealt with these as we think they may have been partly responsible for the owners dissatisfaction. With regard to the shock absorbers, in addition to the two rears which were audible, we found that one front shock absorber was also rattling. To all three shock absorbers we have fitted the best links that we know how to make, which has of course silenced the dampers for the time being. In addition to the rear shock absorbers we have fitted high pressure valves, each having two .036 slots cut therein. We should not have fitted these had Mr. Pilling not already been caused such very considerable inconvenience by noisy shock absorbers. As it is, we think that this additional precaution should ensure that the owner will not trouble us again until we have established a means of producing permanently satisfactory links.
