X. 4617. 40/50 H.P.Chassis - Batteries.

We are in receipt of a letter from Messrs. Peto & Radford, dated 24th inst. as follows:-

"We have now agreed with the Chloride Co. as follows. The outside dimensions of this battery to be 20¼" long, 6¼" wide, 10¾" high over handles."

"The external dimensions of our cells would be "5.5/32" wide, 5.15/32" long, 8⅜" high."

"The Chloride Co's cells might be 1/32" less in each dimension because they cannot work so accurately with ebonite cells and must have a certain amount of tolerance. Certain portions of their cells might have these dimensions but anyway they would have to allow this space to get their ebonite cells into it. At any rate we both agree that our cell and theirs would be absolutely inter-changeable."

"Our Works advise us that into these dimensions they can get a battery of 75 ampere hours actual capacity, and if they receive immediate instructions they can deliver batteries by the end of March."

We have written the Chloride Co. asking them to confirm the foregoing and to state what capacity their battery will have, also how soon they can arrange to deliver. I will send you their reply on receipt.
