Dear Sirs, re - J.H.Mounsey,Esq., We thank you for your further letter on this case ref:HK{Col. T. Harker - Sales}/RFMB of the 19th instant. We can entirely understand your feelings in regard to the original proposal to fit Hartford shock absorbers in addition to our standard hydraulics in view of the conversation which has passed between us. You must appreciate it is only quite recently that certain experimental work connected with our hydraulic shock absorbers has justified our putting into production certain modifications which enable an altogether more enjoyable and controlled ride to be given on our cars, through quite a wide range of speeds. We were happy to find ourselves in the position of being able to ensure that Mr.Mounsey would benefit by these shock absorbers, hence our reason for considering that the expense involved by fitting additional ones was not justified, no matter who had to pay. As you indicate, there is so often the psychological effect to be considered, and if Mr.Mounsey - who appears to be a very meticulous gentleman - is likely to feel altogether more satisfied by the knowledge that he has a certain amount of variable control possible in his damping, then it would appear that you have no other course than to satisfy it in spite of what I have written above. If you can take the view that the order will not be retained otherwise, and will advise us to this effect, we will not put any difficulty in the way from the technical point of view.
