Origin. Complaint by Test Department of insufficient lubrication to rocker shaft.
Report of Experimental Test. This trouble was overcome by drilling 12 holes in such positions that each corresponded with the annular groove formed by the ends of the bushes of each rocker. The holes are graded in a similar manner to the 20/25 rocker shaft except that the smallest holes are at the centre of the shaft (owing to single central oil feed), i.e.-
The rockers to No. 1 & 6 cylinders have .062" dia. holes.

There is no trouble with over-lubrication of the valves. As this scheme is similar to 25 HP., 10,000 mile test not considered necessary.

A further shaft should be now developed with 12 holes only and these feeding the annuli, & this type to be used on all engines.
