Siles 1245 To Bentley Motors Ltd. Copy to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Scott Levallois Sr/VA3/ET.28.4.37 Re: CHASSIS B.71.JY - Mme LAUWERS. Please note that one of our Testers was sent to Etablissements Pisart of Brussels a few days ago, at the request of Tr.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}, to attend to the final tune up and testing of the above and to Mr. Jean Peltzer's new Bentley car. Our mechanic has returned to Paris, but it will be necessary for him to return to Brussels this week end in order to carry out the final tune up and test on Mr. Peltzer's car. He was not able to do this work during his last visit, owing to the owner having decided to have some important alterations carried out to the coachwork. This memo is really to inform you that Mme Lauwers will be leaving for a long tour in Italy in about a week's time and we suppose that the car will be driven on the Autostrade. We therefore think that her car should be fitted with a large capacity oil pump. If you agree to this, will you please make arrangements for a pump complete with the necessary pipes to be sent to Etablissements Pisart as quickly as possible, so that our man can fit it to Mme Lauwers' car at the beginning of next week. Should you consider that one should also be fitted to Mr. Peltzer's car, then please send two pumps. We have some large capacity oil pumps at this end, but these are needed for the cars running in France. As you are aware, duty has been paid on these pumps, when they were sent to us and our man thinks that, if he took one or two pumps from this end, he would experience trouble at the Belgian customs. Kindly let us know what you intend to do about the above. Sr/VA. | ||
