1124? Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}S/MH.{M. Huckerby} 2nd. August 1938. W.Helmore, Esq., Engineering Laboratory, CAMBRIDGE. Dear Helmore, We are up to the neck in it trying full scale cylinder bore wear tests on all sorts and kinds of cylinder liner material. As you know results come slowly and are often contradictory. However, during the next few months we hope to be able to submit liners which give us a widely differing wear effect, so that you can see if your corrosion test confirms this side of the picture. There seem to be indications at present, that with the advance in the art of chromium plating, plated bores may be the solution of the cylinder bore wear problem for those who can afford them. Yours sincerely, | ||
